Rogue
Space Chelsea and FilmsOnArtists team with Life For The
World to help Haitian School children rebuild their
school
Come see my art
On a sun-drenched afternoon in mid-March, 100 Haitian
schoolchildren, one month after losing their school and
home in the earthquake, sat down together and painted
their first images ever.
The 209 paintings that poured out will rebuild their
school.
Join us for this exclusive event, which will be an
opportunity to help build a school for these children,
and in return, take home a masterpiece.

LIFE FOR THE WORLD AND FILMS ON ARTISTS HOST ART FOR
HAITI BENEFIT
100% of Proceeds to Rebuild Maranatha Orphanage and
Primary School
New
York (April 6, 2010) - Life for the World and Films on
Artists are proud to present ART FOR HAITI, a benefit
auction and exhibition to rebuild the Maranatha Orphanage
and Primary School in Source Matales, Haiti. The
show, which features art created by the Haitian students
of the devastated school, will debut with an exclusive
benefit on Tuesday, April 27th at Rogue Space Gallery,
located at 526 West 26th Street. The works will be
open to the public from April 28 - May 1,
2010.
On
March 10th,
FilmsOnArtists
director Kevin O'Hanlon, Haitian-born artist Richard
Laurent and members of Life for the World travelled to
Haiti equipped with 100 tents, food, aid supplies, 200
canvasses, paints and brushes. Over the course of a
week, they spent time with the young students of the
Maranatha Orphanage and Primary School, where they shared
stories, lifted spirits, and painted. For many of
the children, it was their first time painting. On
April 27th, these beautiful and inspiring works will be
auctioned at Rogue Space Gallery, where 100% of the
proceeds will go to rebuilding the school. Telling
the story of each piece, every painting will be exhibited
alongside a portrait of its creator. This once in a
lifetime show will then be open free to the public from
April 28th - May 1st, where additional donations will be
encouraged.
To
accompany the exhibition, FilmsOnArtists will screen a
documentary about the process of creation of the
children's first paintings and the reconstruction of
Maranatha. For more information, images and video
clips, please visit
our Haiti Project page.
Life
For The World
provides hope and healing to the country of Haiti by
providing sustainable living situations, orphanages and
by partnering with hunger organizations.
Established by Mike Fedele in 2000, Life For The World
founded the Maranatha Orphanage and Primary School with
just 8 children and has grown to clothe, feed and educate
160. Since the earthquake hit, Life For The World
has been working tirelessly to organize humanitarian
trips, collect donations and bring aid to the people of
Haiti. On their trip Life For The World set up a
medical clinic, distributed food and brought a little bit
of joy to the children of Maranatha through water
balloons, popcorn and candy. For more information
on the organization and how to contribute, please
